Words of Encouragement

We all need encouragement. Life throws us all it can in the way of negativity, everyday stresses, hardships, struggles, sadness and anything else it can think of to discourage us. So let us encourage one another.

When life gives us a downpour of tasks, deadlines or situations that seem too difficult to handle I try to remember this quote.

Start by doing what is necessary.precioustreasures.com.au

“Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
St Francis of Assisi

We all need encouragement from time to time especially when we’re faced with ‘mountains’ which we believe can’t be moved.

To believe a thing impossible is to make it so.   French Proverb

Impossible only means that you haven’t found the solution yet.   Anonymous

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!   Audrey Hepburn

Never tell a young person that anything cannot be done. God may have been waiting centuries for someone ignorant enough of the impossible to do that very thing.   G. M. Trevelyan

I’m not always quick to remember these quotes but I do try, and when I remember I do find it easier to deal with the ‘mountain’. One small step after another and before you know it the job is done and sometimes you’ve accomplished something way beyond your expectations. It is so true when St. Francis finished off his quote by saying ‘and suddenly you are doing the impossible’.

It’s also true when Walt Disney said

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

Bloom where you are planted.

You are where you are for a reason; and if you did not choose to be there or were not meant to be there try to see it as a sidetrack to where you’re meant to be – an added experience, a learning of something new in your life, the dawning of an idea or piece of knowledge you never held before, or an opportunity to share your gifts – to help, assist, learn. Wherever we are at any given point in time strive to be the best you can – as a person at work, home or with family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances and strangers.

Bloom where you are planted – it will be for the benefit of many … and also for you. For wherever you are becomes a step towards where you’re meant to be.

Truly charity has no limit; for the love of God has been poured into our hearts by His Spirit dwelling in each one of us, calling us to a life of devotion and inviting us to bloom in the garden where He has planted and directing us to radiate the beauty and spread the fragrance of His Providence.

St. Francis de Sales

Children are our Precious Treasures. At any stage of life from conception to old age they’re always yours. Whatever life throws at us we try to cope and I guess we do as best we can, because what else could we do?
Understanding, compassion, loving, being there – these are some of the words that come to mind when thinking about Surviving miscarriage and stillbirth. I’ve not gone through this kind of tragedy but have close friends who have.

Here is an interview on the Today Show with the founder of the stillbirth foundation Emma McLeod who advises on how to cope with a miscarriage and stillbirth.

Mary MacKillop is a source of inspiration for all Australians. She will be our first canonised saint – someone for all people of all ages and faiths. Her life was a ‘teaching by example’, showing us that we can be successful in anything we do if what we do is in accordance to God’s perfect will.
Hers is also an example to never give up on what we believe to be worthy of undertaking – if we see a need then help out, look out for others & be kind. People will see something special in us because we are living our life as Christians. We begin to shine so as to be a light to others; and preach without preaching but by example (Cardinal Newman)
There is a commercial on TV that uses this line – “from little things big things grow” – think of how a smile from a loved one can brighten your day, then think if you were to smile to everyone you meet how you could be brightening their day…. and so on. Doing good is infectious & it will spread.

Little did either of us dream what was to spring from so small a beginning

Mary MacKillop 1891

Anything is possible if we dare to carry out our dreams with passion and with hearts desiring to love all people through the heart of Jesus.

Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble rowars one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another’s interest, not just for your own. The attitude you should have is one that Christ Jesus had….

Philippians 2:1-5

I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.

Philippians 4:13

Prayer by Cardinal Newamn

Dear Jesus,
Help me to spread your fragrance wherever I go. Flood my soul with your Spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that my life may only be a radiance of yours.
Shine though me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel your prescence in my soul.
Let them look up and see no longer me, but only Jesus! Stay with me and then I will begin to shine as you shine so to shine as to be a light to others.
The light o Jesus, will be all from you; none of it will be mine. It will be you shining on others through me.
Let me thus praise you in the way which you love best, by shining on those around me.
Let me preach you without preaching, not by words but by example. By the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what I do, the evident fullness of the love my heart bears for you.

The Will of God will never take you
Where the Grace of God cannot keep you
Where the Arms of God cannot support you
Where the Riches of God cannot support your needs
Where the Power of God cannot endow you.

The Will of God will never take you
Where the Spirit of God cannot work through you
Where the Wisdom of God cannot teach you
Where the Army of God cannot protect you
Where the Hands of God cannot mould you.

The Will of God will never take you
Where the Love of God cannot enfold you
Where the Mercies of God cannot sustain you
Where the Peace of God cannot calm your fears
Where the Authority of God cannot overrule you.

The Will of God will never take you
Where the Comfort of God cannot dry your tears
Where the Word of God cannot feed you
Where the Miracles of God cannot be done for you
Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.

I came across this verse at Sue’s blog In Him We Live and Move and Have Our Being , and have since found it on other sites. I loved this and found it quite touching so here it is for you to read ….

When I created the heavens and the earth,

I spoke them into being.

When I created man, I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils.

But you, woman, I fashioned.

After I breathed the breath of life into man,

Because your nostrils are to delicate.

I allowed a deep sleep to come over him,

So I could patiently and perfectly fashion you.

Man was put to sleep

So that he could not interfere with the creativity.

From one bone I fashioned you.I chose the bone that protects man’s life.

I chose the rib, which protects his heart and lungs.

And supports him, as you were meant to do.

Around this one bone I shaped you.

I modelled you. I created you perfectly and beautifully.

Your characteristics are as the rib,

Strong yet delicate and fragile.

You provide protection for the most delicate organ in man, his heart.

His heart is the centre of his being; His lungs hold the breath of life.

The rib cage will allow itself to be broken.

Before it will allow damage to the heart. Support man as the rib cage supports the body.

You were not taken from his feet, to be under him,

Nor were you taken from his head, to be above him.

You were taken from his side,

To stand beside him and be held close to his side.

You are my perfect angel, my beautiful little girl.

You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence,

And my eyes fill when I see the virtues in your heart.

Your eyes are beautiful,

Your lips, how lovely when they part in prayer.

Your nose, so perfect in form,

Your hands so gentle to touch.

I’ve caressed your face in your deepest sleep,

I’ve held your heart close to mine.

Of all that lives and breathes, you are the most like me.

Adam walked with me in the cool of the day, Yet he was lonely.

He could not see me or touch me. He could only feel me.

So everything I wanted Adam to share and experience with me,

I have fashioned in you: My holiness, my strength, my purity, my love,

My protection and support.

You are special because you are the extension of me.

Man represents my image – Woman, my emotions.

Together, you represent the totality of God.

So man, treat woman well. Love her, respect her, for she is fragile.

In hurting her, you hurt me.

What you do to her, you do to me.

In hurting her, you only damage your own heart,

The heart of your Father and the heart of her Father.

Woman, support man. In humility, show him the power of emotion I have given you.

In gentle quietness show your strength.

In love, show him that you are the rib,

That protects his inner self.

Did you know that woman was so special in God’s eyes?
