The Wonderful World of Blogs

This is where I’ll write about anything to do with my blogs – any news or updates. Plus, I’ll share about the blogs I follow or visit, and make mention of any blog awards being given.

My EP Designs blog has been nominated for it’s first ever blog award. The Australia’s Favourite Blog By A Business Mum Awards is being conducted by the Business Mums Network.  It was an unexpected but pleasant surprise when I received notification of the nomination from Melissa.

Blogs with the most nominations in each category will be selected as finalists.  So before voting begins I need to be selected as a finalist. I’d love for you to visit EP Designs and see what you think about it. If you like it please click on the ‘Nominate My Blog’ button in the sidebar (top) and fill in the details. The category for my blog is Women/Lifestyle.

Prizes will be awarded to those who nominate a blog, vote for a blog, as well as the winners in each category.

Nominations will close on Friday 25th September.

Voting opens on Monday 5th October.

It’s taken me a while to post this (apologies to Therese). A heartfelt thank you to Therese from Aussie Coffee Shop for awarding me the Honest Scrap Award.

Now…to keep this award, I must do the following:

1) Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.
2) Share “ten honest things” about myself.
3) Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
4) Tell those 7 people that they’ve been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving it 🙂

Here are the 10 honest things about me:

  1. I think that by now most of my blogging friends know I love chocolate and coffee – what most don’t know however is that I could easily polish off a whole block or box of the stuff in one day.
  2. I’m a procrastinator.
  3. I work best at night – usually when under pressure and find this is when I do my best creative work.
  4. You might have guessed then, that I’m Not a morning person – you’ll only get a grunt from me in the first 30 minutes after getting up in the morning.
  5. I love it that I can talk to my best friend any time of the day or night. I know He listens to me and He loves me. He doesn’t mind or tell me He hasn’t got time. How special is that?
  6. I have been a lapsed Catholic but turned back to the Lord many years ago. This probably came about partly because I didn’t really know or understand my faith as I should have (lots of other reasons too but I’m not ready to write a book). Prayers (from special friends) do work and God answers them in His time.
  7. I wish I could have my life over again because I would do soooo many things differently, but I accept that spending time in a ‘desert’ is all part of the making of who I am and God has His hand on me.
  8. I love sunsets and love being by the beach when the sun goes down because I know that while I’m saying goodnight to the sun, someone is saying goodmorning to it – I just love that feeling – it’s like I’m connecting with people I’ve never met.
  9. I am a rather shy person, but my friends get to see my comical side and sometimes my ‘performing’ side …..
  10. I feel and act a lot younger than my years ………….. so, how else am I supposed to act?

Now it’s time for me to pass this award onto the following bloggers and their blogs –

  1. Grandmother Wren
  2. More to follow soon.

I’ve found & replaced the WordPress theme which disappeard on me a few weeks back but although it all looks the same it doesn’t seem to work the same. I love the colour, warmth & richness of this current theme I’m using (which is called Rose1) but I feel I need to find another one.

I’ve searched and searched. I’ve downloaded themes & tried them out only to find codes & things weren’t working properly. I know there are thousands of themes out there but I’m wondering if you could keep an eye out for me & let me know if you come across a blog or theme you think I’d like.

I found a gorgeous one for my Blogger blog – EP’s Treasures, so something between the two styles would be nice, with a nice header or space for me to add my own; and preferably with three columns…. & pref a free template.

I don’t ask for much do I?

I’ll continue my search sifting through the thousands of themes around but if anyone knows of a good site please let me know.

I still can’t figure out what’s gone wrong with the theme I was using for my blog.

A few prayers are needed so I can find one that really says Precious Treasures. So I’ll settle for this current theme temporarily. There are lots of ‘bits’ missing including my signature, but I’ll have them all back in the sidebar as soon as I find the right theme.

God Bless,

Elena

I logged in tonight to find my WordPress Theme had ‘disappeared’ and I can’t seem to fix it. Something ‘fishy’ is gong on but don’t know what.

Has anyone else experinenced this? Please let me know if you have – especially if you have any words of wisdom for me. I’ve tired to upload the theme again but I lose all my changes when I select it. I quite like my theme …. but if I can’t fix it I’ll be looking for a new one.

Please pardon my blog while all this is in progress. Thank you.

A big Thank you to Esther of A Catholic Mom In Hawaii for this lovely award. I feel honoured to have been included in the choices. I’m so excited as it’s my first ever award for any of my blogs. It’s been a pleasure visiting her blog. Thank you so much!

Here we go:
This award acknowledges the values that every blogger shows in his/her effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary and personal values every day.

The rules to follow are:
1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person that has granted the award and his or her blog link.
2) Pass the award to other 15 blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment.
Remember to contact each of them to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

From what I’ve noticed around the blogs the difficult part now is finding 15 who have not already been gifted with this award ………

Monastic Moments
Behold Your Mother: A Bouquet of Love
At the Wellsprings of Traditional Life
Youth for Australia
Homeschooling Down Under
Rose, Tea and Our Lady
Treasures of Grace
Catholic Family Vignettes
Do Whatever He Tells You
Under Her Starry Mantle
Seven Little Australians Plus One
Surrounded By Grace

I have managed to add 12 to the award list and have decided to stop here otherwise I’ll never get this post up. I have enjoyed seeking out these blogs to grant the awards to. They’re all in my favourites, some I visit more often than others but it’s been lovley reading them all. I will be in touch with each blog now to let them know of their award. God Bless you all.

During World Youth Day in Sydney this year we met up with hundreds ….. well, thousands of people from many nations and there was a joyous sense of family all around. A joy also in knowing that as Aussie Catholics we are not alone. You know you’re not alone but I think that being little isolated from the rest of the world we can easily feel we’re alone. In  our Aussie society this makes it hard to open up about our faith. But what an opener WYD08 was. Since returning from Sydney I’ve had the leading to convert this blog ……. and this task continues on. It certainly has changed significantly since I first began the Precious Treasures blog.

I have been visiting other Catholic blogs lately (something I didn’t think to look for earlier) & they have been so nice to discover. I’ve enjoyed browsing through each of them, reading their posts and leaving comments. So I thought I’d share a few of my discoveries with you.

The name Aussie Coffee Shop caught my eye. Any one who knows me knows I love to go out for a coffee & cake, so this blog is one of those ‘coffee time’ blogs for me to visit. I also enjoyed this lovely & peaceful looking blog – A Traditonal Catholic and this one by an amazing Mum 2 Twelve . At Veni Sancte Spiritus  I discovered a Catholic homeschooled teen who is discerning a religious vocation. Another delightful blog too.

I know there are many more Catholic blogs out there but these were just a few – Anyhow that’s my bit of sharing for today….. actually it’s very late at night & I’m going to have a quick peek at EWTN before heading off to bed. So it’s goodnight and God Bless until my next post.

If you are reading my blog please leave a comment and say ‘Hi’ – I’d love to hear from you 🙂
